What is Stevia?
Stevia is the generic name for zero-calorie High Intensity Sweeteners called steviol glycosides (SGs). SGs are extracted and purified from the Stevia rebaudiana bertoni plant. The stevia leaf contains of both major (present in high amounts) and minor (present in low amounts) SGs. The steviol glycosides have different taste profiles that can be combined with other SGs or other bulking ingredients to effectively replace sugar in in a variety of food and beverage applications.
